Planetary Transits for December 31-January 6th
(Interpretations based on the Systemsʻ Approach to Vedic Astrology)
Note: As mentioned in my dad’s column last week, Jupiter and Saturn make their closest visible approach to Earth since the Middle Ages. This great alignment (within 5 degrees of each other) continues through January — and then won’t be seen again until 2080.
This conjunction is favorable primarily for Aries, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius rising signs, while it gives mixed results for Gemini, Leo and Aquarius rising signs — as this takes place in their 8th, 6th, and 12th (inauspicious houses), respectively.
Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn and Pisces rising sign persons, companies and countries, including (USA) should be careful and patient — as at least one of these two planets operates as a functional malefic planet for these rising signs.
Where the Vedic Astrology Planets are this Week
Sun transits Sagittarius, from 15:52° to 23°. Sun is outside the orb of influence of other planets. This connects leaders, presidents, physicians, administrators and governments with law, religion and education.
Moon is waning and transits Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, and into Libra.
Mars transits its own sign of Aries, from 02:53° to 5:59°. This is a major improvement for Mars, which has been under the 5th aspect of Ketu since mid-August! Expect relief for surgeons, athletes, the military, police, property, construction, engineering, executives, et al. Fires and conflicts should start to dissipate.
Mercury transits Sagittarius and into Capricorn on January 4th. Mercury is weak in degrees from January 1st-January 7th. Be careful with stocks, business, writing, research, literature, technology and intellectual property.
Jupiter transits its debilitation sign, Capricorn, from 08:27°-10:04°. Now, out of infant state and in stronger degrees, there should be improvement for law, religion, education, publishing, teaching and consulting. Jupiter is closely conjunct Saturn through January. Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn and Pisces rising sign persons, companies and countries, including (USA) should exercise a great deal of patience.
Venus transits Scorpio and into Sagittarius on January 3rd. Venus is closely conjunct Ketu, until Jan. 3 and weak in degrees until January 7th. Take care of and be patient with women, romance, travel, medicine, luxuries, entertainment, and the fine, healing or performing arts. Connect the same with spiritual practices for best results.
Saturn transits its own sign, Capricorn, from 07:23°-8:11°. This is a strong position for Saturn and should be helpful for the elderly, the masses, working-class persons and the poor and needy. (Social Security announces an increase in payments for 2021.) Gemini, Leo and Aquarius rising signs, however, should be careful and patient as Saturn is transiting their 8th, 6th, and 12th (inauspicious) houses, respectively.

Cancer, Virgo and Pisces rising sign persons, companies, and countries (including USA) should also be vigilant whenever Saturn is within 5 degrees of any of their planets or rising sign degree, by aspect or conjunction.
Rahu and Ketu transit Taurus and Scorpio, respectively and stationary, from 25:46°-25:30°. Persons, companies and countries with a rising sign between 24 and 25 degrees — or with any planets in even signs (Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces) between these same degrees, should be careful and patient through mid-Feb.
The Impact of the Transit Planets for each “Rising Sign” (not “Sun Sign”)

Be patient with setbacks connected with education, children, investments, and creative projects, home life, parents, property, vehicles, and fixed assets. There may be some good luck connected with windfalls or easy gains and your career. You may be feeling active and you can have comfortable stays abroad and gains connected with foreign lands.
Gemini: Be patient with conflicts connected with education, children, investments, and creative projects. Protect the women in your life and be careful with transportation. Focus on spirituality connected with your health and finances. Connect your home life and entrepreneurial activities with partnerships and joint ventures. Be patient with setbacks connected with relationships, father, spirituality, and your work in life. Income and friendships are supported. There may be desires for travel and going abroad.
Cancer: Connect home life, property, vehicles and fixed assets with education, children, investments, and creative projects as well as with spirituality. Be patient with conflicts relative to wealth, status, continuation of family life, and entrepreneurial activities as well as with conflicts and setbacks relative to relationships. Your career and professional life is well supported and there can be focus, energy, drive, and ambition connected with income, friendships, and fulfillment of desires.
Leo: Take time for spiritual practice in your home life. Work out of your home on entrepreneurial activities, the fine arts, performing arts, and healing arts. Focus on education, children, investments, and creative projects. There can be wealth and status connected with these areas. Virgo: Be patience with wealth and status connected with entrepreneurial activities. Focus on spirituality in these areas. Also focus on your home life, parents, property, vehicles, and fixed assets. There may be some short lived losses, expenses, or separations relative to these areas. You may feel like you’ve been putting in a lot of effort without any results. Watch out for wanting to initiate conflicts. There can be gains in property or inheritance. Focus some energy on your dharma and spirituality.
