When I first started learning astrology I was overwhelmed by the amount of resources out there. Go to any bookstore and you’ll find a fairly large section dedicated to astrology books alone. How is one to know where to start? Often times the information in these books are difficult to understand, contradictory, and lead to confusion.
I’m lucky to have been born into a family that practices Systems’ Approach to Vedic Astrology which is a scientific paradigm for reading horoscopes. I didn’t have to search too hard to find the best books that would make it easy to learn how to read charts with simplicity and accuracy. Below is a list of 5 of the best resources I highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn Vedic Astrology and fast!
- Astrology for Life by David Hawthorne
This book is a practical guide to interpreting horoscopes for yourself, your family and friends. It will provide you with a simple, systematic approach to interpreting horoscopes. - Beneath the Vedic Sky by William Levacy
Vedic Astrology can be used as a way to enhance our lives. In this book you will learn how to identify the most salient features of Vedic astrology as well as how to interpret a birth chart Vedic style. I recommend this to anyone who is starting out and wants a fun and easy way to learn the terminology and fundamental principles of Vedic Astrology, however this book is not completely in alignment with the principles of Systems’ Approach to Vedic Astrology which is the system I practice. It is a good starting point, but I would recommend then studying Systems’ Approach which will give you the ability to take the fundamentals you have learned and apply them to give accurate, practical, and replicable consultations using Systems’ Approach to Vedic Astrology which is a scientific paradigm for reading charts.
