We can use astrology to gain a peek into our past lives. Vedic Astrology operates on the basis that we have several lifetimes and that the suffering we experience this lifetime is due to past life karma we are working through this lifetime.

The Shashtiamsha or D60 chart or horoscope is the chart used to look at past life reincarnation. Here we look for the sanchit karma or the accumulated karma. 

The past life chart will not show us every past life, but rather the most important points in our past lives that may be trickling into our current lives and coloring our experiences today. If there are unresolved issues from our past lives then we must make a point to work through these issues this lifetime in order to mitigate suffering and attain liberation. 

The natal chart will also show information regarding the past life karma we are working through this lifetime by looking at the placement and impact of Ketu (the Southern Node of the Moon). Ketu can bring enlightenment to us, but sometimes through suffering. Ketu can take everything away from a person and put them on a spiritual path.
